PEOPLE

Rachel Wang - Producer/Director
Rachel is a black British filmmaker with a strong visual sense and a passion for new and innovative filmmaking techniques. For Chocolate Films she directs dramas, documentaries and promotional films as well as designing and running many of the education courses. Recently Rachel directed the cinema documentary Afro-Saxons with Mark Currie and the documentary Dominoes and Bingo.
Rachel studied Fine Art at Wimbledon Art School and History of Art and Theology at Bristol University. She attained a post-graduate degree in Law and worked in Corporate Finance before forming Chocolate Films in 2001 with Mark Currie.

Mark Currie - Producer/Director
Mark is an award-winning filmmaker and theatre director. He produces and directs many Chocolate Films productions and leads a large number of the educational projects. Mark directed the acclaimed documentary Afro-Saxons (released in cinemas Oct. 08) with Rachel Wang.
Before forming Chocolate Films in 2001 with Rachel Wang, Mark studied at Jacques Le Coq Theatre School in Paris and worked on theatre productions both in England and internationally.

Ana Tovey - Community Filmmaker
Ana joined Chocolate Films in 2007 and works on community filmmaking and educational projects.
Ana worked at the BFI as a Partnerships Officer developing film exhibition, education and archive projects and at Film London as part of the Audience Development team. She has an MA in Visual Anthropology at Manchester University where she produced the documentaries ‘Standing Place’ and ‘21st Century Druids’.

Kasia Sobocinska –Youth and Community Filmmaker
Kasia studied journalism at Warsaw University before moving to London to study Film and Video at the London College of Communication (specialising in cinematography). Her graduation film Akbulak was the winner of the Eat Our Shorts Nahemi Student's Film Competition and has been screened in film festivals across Europe. In 2009 she was chosen as on of the Skillset Trailblazers at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Eray Hussein – Junior Editor
Eray studied Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts where he worked on Documentaries Pocket Money and SLAP (seen on Channel 4 and featured on ITV’s London Tonight). Since, he has worked as a freelance filmmaker and editor, producing a variety of doc promos while running audio-visual workshops. Very much driven by narrative in his Video and Graphics work

Rohan Mehra - Projects Assistant
Rohan joined Chocolate Films in 2008, shortly after completing an MSc course in Science Media Production at Imperial College London. He has diverse interests and experience in film and animation, both digital and traditional and works across production and education projects. Chocolate Films promote cultural diversity and endeavours to create opportunities for ethnic minorities in media and filmmaking.

Sheena Patel – Production Assistant
Sheena studied English Literature at Queen Mary University of London. Since graduating in 2008 has worked in various roles for two production houses. Sheena is the latest recruit, joining Chocolate Films in November 2009. She provides support for the various members of the team, assisting the company’s educational and filmmaking projects. For a separate venture, she reviews books, events and interviews authors for her weblog.
